1975- Bill Gates and Paul Allen write a version of BASIC for the MITS Altair 8800. Microsoft is also formed in August.
1976-Microsoft establishes MS-BASIC with top computer manufacturers.
1980-Microsoft aagres to develope MS-BASIC and an operating system for the new secret IBM personal computer.
1981-MS-DOS 1.0 is released and IBM releases the first personal computer.
1983-Microsoft Windows is announced and Word for MS-DOS is introduced.
1984-Apple releases the Macintosh.
1985-Microsoft Windows 1.0 is released.
1988-Microsoft Windows 2.0 is released.
1990-Microsoft Windows 3.0 is released. Microsoft and IBM file for "divorce".
1992-Windows 3.1 is released with MS-DOS 6.2.
1993-Windows for Workgroups 3.11 is released.
1994-MS-DOS 6.22 is released.
1995-Microsoft celebrates its 20th Aniversary with Windows 95 and the new Microsoft Office 95.
1996-Windows NT is released.
1998-Windows 98 is released.
2000-Windows ME and Windows 2000 is released with MS-Office 2000.
2001-Windows XP is released along with MS-Works Suite 2002.
